Pastor Daniel Johnston: An Autobiography
The pastor at Living Savior, the new church in Blair, is Daniel Johnston.
I grew up in the muggy humidity of central Florida before realizing that it was far too hot for me. So I packed my bags to attend high-school in Wisconsin at Luther Preparatory School. Although this was a long way from home, this is where I began my studies to become a minister of the gospel of Jesus. Following my years here, I moved to an even colder climate at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. Here I learned the languages in which the Bible was originally written—Hebrew and Greek—as well as the message it teaches. I received my bachelor's degree after four years.
I then went to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary near Milwaukee to finish my formal education in preaching, teaching, and understanding the precious truths of God's Word. My third year of seminary education was spent as a “vicar”—or intern—at Abiding Grace in Covington, Georgia.
After Seminary I spent two years at my high-school alma mater teaching religion classes and supervising a boys' dormitory. In the summer of 2015 I moved to Blair to start a new mission, Living Savior Lutheran Church. By God's grace he has blessed me with this incredible opportunity to proclaim God's truth to the people in Blair.
In July of 2017, I got hitched to the love of my life, Hannah! She's currently pursuing a career in teaching science. In her off-time, she helps with lots of the work at Living Savior! When not doing mission work, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my wife and her large family! If I have a longer vacation, you might find me wandering a trail in Alaska or fishing in a fjord somewhere—really doing anything outdoors that I can!
